Peter Walker, Artist in Residence at Lichfield Cathedral; Jon Saunders, Chairman of Apollo; and The Very Revd Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield.

Apollo, the UK’s largest privately-owned liquid adhesive, sealant, coating & primer manufacturer,  is excited to be sponsoring a fascinating series of exhibitions and lectures at Lichfield Cathedral.

The Great Exhibition: Space, God, the Universe and Everything starting on August 8 and a lecture by the first UK astronaut, Helen Sharman on August 26, plus the Curious Minds science and religion lecture series in September and October are being supported by Apollo which was founded during the space race era and took its name from the inspirational and pioneering Apollo missions.

Apollo Chairman, Jon Saunders, said: "The theme of this year's Great Exhibition resonates with Apollo marking an era of excitement and inspiration. Whilst the event celebrates a remarkable event - man landing on the moon - it takes us back to when we also took our own first steps as we launched our business.

“We are pleased to support the event and hope that it inspires visitors to pursue their own journeys of discovery whatever they might be. As a business we are constantly developing and innovating products and discovering new ways of doing things. We are always looking for potential pioneers to join us in our own journey of discovery and hope that our involvement with the exhibition will encourage people to do just that."

The Very Revd Adrian Dorber, Dean of Lichfield, added: “We are delighted to be working with Apollo as sponsors of the Great Exhibition and accompanying lecture series. Here at Lichfield Cathedral we want to celebrate the spirit of exploration and discovery that pushed back the boundaries of human travel and our knowledge of the universe. Our summer programme takes its inspiration from the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, and we are very pleased to announce this partnership with a company originally inspired by that same momentous event and now a real local success story.”
